Corimmun GmbH is a clinical drug developing company located in Martinsried near Munich, Germany, and is focused on novel therapeutics and diagnostics for heart and vascular diseases. Corimmun's activities and experiences comprise all steps from research to drug development and commercialization.
Corimmun´s COR-1, a drug for the treatment of chronic congestive heart failure, has been successfully tested in humans. COR-1 showed ex vivo efficacy and was very well tolerated. Similarly Revacept, a drug for the treatment of acute thromboembolism (such as myocardial infarction and stroke) showed good efficacy and tolerability after administration in humans. Both drugs are now being investigated in larger patient trials. These product developments are being pursued by Corimmun with all necessary assays (e. g., pharmacokinetics) according to „good laboratory and clinical practice“ (GLP and GCP).
Further therapeutic candidates, e. g. antibody-like compounds which promote the homing of endothelial progenitor cells to vascular lesions („plaques“), or which prevent the uptake of deleterious lipid complexes (oxidized LDL) into these plaques, are currently in preclinical development. These compounds are also being produced in bioreactors at Corimmun.
All these innovative products were derived from in-house research and development, compounds which had been dismissed by others have not been in-licensed.
The company has secured financing by MIG Fonds, ERP start fonds, High-tech fonds and Bayern Kapital.
